Operational
and technical
- Successfully
directed and managed IT implementations in various businesses, including
Corporate IT system based on Microsoft Exchange
- Played
a key role in planning a major plant closure, thereafter, managing the
plant and 1100 staff during its 12 month deactivation.
- Managed
site facilities, including maintenance, security, canteen, telecommunications
and finance for a site employing 1800 people.
- Executed
financial and quality audits with the recommendations resulting in performance,
cost and employee improvement programmes.
Organisational
- Developed
and implemented business plans for SME's.
- Instigated
and managed change by implementing new work culture and practices. Companies
successfully gained ISO 9001/2 accreditation.
- Successfully
planned / directed corporate / Careers Research Advisory Council joint
initiative, Insight into Management courses at Salford University (112
people - students, teachers, young managers and tutors).
- Project
managed the transfer of corporate spares Warehouse involving some £180m
worth of inventory, whilst at the same time maintaining an effective
quality customer service.
- Led a
multinational team of 12 people who successfully brought together £38m
corporate computer networks under central control.
Interpersonal
- Recruited,
trained, led and motivated personnel with diverse skills and from different
functions. Effectively operated management by objectives with target
setting and appraisal.
- Instigated
and controlled, Management Development Programme for "12 high fliers".
- Trained
and educated more than 1,000 management and staff in quality, ISO 9000,
Customer Care and TQM leading to a change in working culture.
- Played
ambassadorial role in promoting the organisation through presentations,
partnerships and the media. For example, presented to 500+ delegates
at an external conference (translated into several foreign languages)
and wrote articles for TQM book published in Denmark.
Commercial
and financial
- Set up,
managed and successfully controlled multi-million pound revenue, capital
and inventory budgets at site, strategic business unit and cost centre
level.
- Instigated
and carried out customer audits and implemented improvement programmes.
- Established
business plans, by proactively working with management, that supported
the organisations strategic plans and which were successfully implemented
thereafter by the management and employees alike.
- Managed
all aspects of product costing, financial and management accounting,
reporting and control in order to improve business efficiency and profitability.
